A ruler you are not embarrassed to open.

The free rulers on the App Store are ugly and full of ads. Régua BLA is the opposite. Editorial typography, a calm paper background, marks in millimeter, centimeter and inch. The thing you want to measure rests against the left edge of the screen. The ruler is the screen.

For finer precision, Régua BLA calibrates with a card. You rest any credit or debit card against the corner of the screen, slide until the gray mark lines up, and save. A card's size is an international standard, ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1. It works with any card.

The real limit is the size of your screen. Good for small things, up to about 15 centimeters. It fits a screw, a label, a stationery piece, a model part, an origami fold. It does not fit a carpenter's ruler.

The ruler you buy at the store lives in a drawer. Régua BLA lives on your home screen.

A loose screw

You take a screw out of its hole and need to know if the replacement is 4 mm, 5 mm or 6 mm. Rest it against the left edge of the screen and read the head and the thread directly.

A label, a detail on clothing

The shirt with the new embroidery, the size of that patch. You measure before sending it to the seamstress, the print shop, or to confirm with the supplier.
